The SÍM Residency seeks to promote an environment of reflection, research, study, and play by providing artists with a working environment that supports the artistic process. SÍM Residency offers two different locations in the Reykjavík area: Seljavegur and Korpúlfsstaðir house around 70 studios used by local artists. During the residency, artists will have an opportunity to meet, work, and network with seventeen other artists that will be participating in the residency program. The grantees of the Finnish Cultural Foundation will be located in the SÍM Residency Korpúlfsstaðir apartment in Reykjavik. For extended production-based art projects artists can book various workshops like textile, ceramic, printmakers, sculpture, dance studios, darkroom, and sound recording room.

The curatorial/mentorship program specifically created for the collaboration between SÍM Residency and Finnish Cultural Foundation will offer individual curatorial/mentorship assistance from a local curator for each residency artist. The selected artists will be invited to participate in general residency activities, like Artist Talks and Open Studios each month.

At the end of the residency program, the artists will have the possibility to introduce their extended research project under curatorial assistance at SÍM Gallery for the duration of the final week.

The residency welcomes all visual artists including multi-disciplinary, cross-disciplinary project proposals. SÍM Residency also welcomes curators and art writers for research-based projects.

The residency artists will be granted a private bedroom and working space in a shared studio space at SÍM Residency Korpúlfsstaðir apartment.
