In the October call for applications 2024, the Finnish Cultural Foundation will award an additional €1 million in funding for applied research supporting mental health in children and young people. The grant is open for application from all fields of science, and an interdisciplinary approach is appreciated.

Grant Application Schedule

The grant is open for application in the October application round. Applications close at 4 pm Finnish time (EET) on the last day of the application period.

Eligible Applicants

The grant is intended for working groups consisting of more than one researcher. A registered legal entity, such as a university, a research institute or a corporation, may not apply. All scientific work in the project will be remunerated as working grants, not as salaries. It is considered important to involve young people in the design, implementation and interpretation of the study.

Grant Purpose

The theme of the Additional Million-euro funding to Science is applied research supporting mental health in children and young people in the October 2024 round of applications. The applications can deal with the theme from different perspectives, but research that seeks preventative, evidence-based solutions to support children and young people's mental health and reduce the need for mental health services is particularly encouraged. The grant can be applied for work, project-related expenses, or both together.

The Additional Million-euro Grant will be awarded to no more than five research projects.

How to Apply

The application is submitted to the Online Application Service during the October application period. This special purpose grant can be selected in the Grant Type menu on the Application page of the application form.
