Grant Application Schedule
The grant is open for application in the October application round. Applications close at 4 pm Finnish time (EET) on the last day of the application period.
Eligible Applicants
The applicant can be a working group consisting of several researchers, but not a university or research institute. Involving young people in the planning, implementation, and interpretation of the results is considered essential. All scientific work in the project is paid as a working grant, not as a salary.
Grant Purpose
In the October 2024 application round, the special focus of the "Million for Science" is supporting the mental health of children and young people. Applications can address the theme from different perspectives, but studies that preventively seek scientifically justified solutions for the support of children’s and young people’s mental health, and thereby reduce the need for mental health services, are particularly encouraged. The grant can be applied, in addition to work, for necessary material expenses or fees.
The Additional Million-euro Grant will be awarded to no more than five research projects.
How to Apply
The application is submitted to the Online Application Service during the October application period. This special purpose grant can be selected in the Grant Type menu on the Application page of the application form.
The required attachments for the application are listed in the Application Guidelines for Grants.
The management of the grants awarded by the Cultural Foundation to working groups involves procedures which applicants should already familiarize themselves with at the grant application stage. Guidelines for the person in charge of a working group can be read here.
