January Round
January Round 21.1.-6.2.26
The regional funds of Finnish Cultural Foundation support work conducted in the field of culture within their region – science and art- by awarding grants and prizes once a year.
Only art grants are applied for from the Uusimaa Fund, while both science and art grants are available from the other funds.
Eligible Applicants
The Regional Funds award grants to applicants residing or born in the region, for scientific or artistic work taking place in or focused on the region, and various cultural projects. As an individual and as a person responsible for a working group of several people, you can submit an application only to one of the regional funds. Registered organisations can submit applications to many regional funds.
Art grants can be applied for from all funds, but science grants cannot be applied for from the Uusimaa Fund.
Type of Grants
In the January Round can individuals and working groups apply for working or expenditure grants, or for both of them. The registered organisations can apply for expenditure grants. Special purpose grants in the January round of applications are Vitality and Culture, Local culture grants and Spearhead grants. The regions have also their own special purpose grants as Art Together , Speak Finnish Boldly, Science Grant, Project Combining Science and Art Grant. Check them out on the January application page
As an individual or as a person responsible for a working group of several people, you can submit only one application. You can, however, be a member of a working group (but not the person responsible) in a different project than the one your personal application is focused on.
The work to be funded with the grant now being applied may begin no earlier than 15 May 2026. Expenditure grants may also be used for expenses incurring only from 15 May 2026 onward.
When will we announce the grant decisions
Both favourable and unfavourable grant decisions will be sent to grant applicants by email between April and May.
The grant decisions are made by an administrative committee consisting of regional experts from various fields. If necessary, outside experts can be called upon to evaluate applications.
