January Round
January Round: Jan 20 to Feb 7, 2025
The regional funds of Finnish Cultural Foundation support work conducted in the field of culture within their region – science and art- by awarding grants and prizes once a year.
The application period of the regional funds is 20.1.-7.2. Applications close at 4 pm Finnish time on the last day of the application period. The Uusimaa regional fund will take applications not until the January Round 2026.
Eligible Applicants
The Regional Funds award grants to applicants residing or born in the region, for scientific or artistic work taking place in or focused on the region, and various cultural projects. As an individual and as a person responsible for a working group of several people, you can submit an application only to one of the regional funds. Registered organisations can submit applications to many regional funds.
Type of Grants
In the January Round can individuals and working groups apply for working or expenditure grants, or for both of them. The registered organisations can apply for expenditure grants. Special purpose grants in the January round of applications are Local culture grants and Spearhead grants that are awarded annually for larger than customary projects. The regions have also their own special purpose grants.
As an individual or as a person responsible for a working group of several people, you can submit only one application. You can, however, be a member of a working group (but not the person responsible) in a different project than the one your personal application is focused on.
When will we announce the grant decisions
The grant decisions will be announced to the applicants between April and May. Both favourable and unfavourable grant decisions will be sent to grant applicants by email approximately two weeks before the publishing of the grants.
The grant decisions are made by an administrative committee consisting of regional experts from various fields. If necessary, outside experts can be called upon to evaluate applications.
