The Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition
The Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition, organised every three years by the Finnish Cultural Foundation, counts among the most prestigious competitions of its kind in the world.
About the competition
Designed for outstanding, experienced young singers, the Mirjam Helin competition has a reputation for being one of the leading international singing competitions, and one with the highest of standards. It has a broad and exacting repertoire, superb prizes and a prestigious jury. Many former prizewinners, such as Olaf Bär, Elīna Garanča, René Pape, Andrea Rost and Julia Lezhneva, have risen to the top of the world of singing.
The 2024 competition was won by Chinese mezzo-soprano Jingjing Xu. The judges of the competition were bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni, pianist Keval Shah, baritone Bo Skovhus, mezzo-soprano Randi Stene, and soprano Dawn Upshaw. The chair of the jury was soprano Soile Isokoski. The competition took place in Helsinki from June 3 to June 12, 2024.
