T
he short film Korsoteoria (So It
Goes) by Antti Heikki Pesonen
was released in spring 2012. It
was his degree assignment at the Aalto
University, Helsinki. Since then, it has won
16 prizes. At the Tampere Film Festival
in March 2012 it received the Risto Jarva
Prize for new Finnish films awarded by the
Finnish Film Foundation. In autumn 2012

Film director Antti Heikki Pesonen wants
to show what the early 1990s did t those
now in their thirties.
Pesonen took the main prize at the Munich
International Student Film Festival and
presented his idea for a new feature film at
the Nordic Talents event for film-direction
students in Copenhagen. It brought him
the main prize.
When did it really dawn on Pesonen
that he was set to become a feature-film
director?
“Last April, when the cameras began
to roll,” he says with a laugh. “I’m a very
sceptical guy. I don’t believe things until I
actually see them come true.”
First the story, then the facts
Päin seinää (Headfirst) is Pesonen’s
first feature film. Like Korsoteoria, it
