The Finnish Cultural Foundation will award around EUR 1 million in additional funding earmarked for research focused on nutrition and health in the October 2021 round of applications. Applications will be accepted from the fields of natural sciences, pharmacy, medicine, and agricultural science, as well as from interdisciplinary projects.

Grant Application Schedule

The grant is open for application in the October application round. Applications close at 4 pm Finnish time (EET) on the last day of the application period.

Eligible Applicants

The grant is intended for working groups consisting of more than one researcher. A registered legal entity, such as a university, a research institute or an incorporation, may not apply.

Grant Purpose

The Additional Million-euro Grant will be awarded to no more than five research projects. The grant can be applied for work, project-related expenses, or both together.

The applications may look at the research subject from different points of view, for example the health effects of nutrition, the connection of nutrition to the origin of different diseases, nutrition and healthy lifestyles, or connections between nutrition and medication.

How to Apply

The application is submitted to the Online Application Service during the October application period. The Grant page of the application form includes a Special Grants menu, from which the Additional Million-euro Funding can be selected.

The required attachments for the application are listed in the General Guidelines. The research plan to be attached to the application must be submitted either in Finnish or English, but the summary included in the application form must be written in Finnish. When the grant is applied for expenses, the budget must be submitted as a separate attachment according to the guidelines.
