The Finnish Cultural Foundation is awarding approximately EUR 1 million under the theme new materials and technologies for green transition in the October 2022 round of applications. Applications will be accepted from the fields of natural sciences, technical sciences, agriculture and forestry, as well as from interdisciplinary projects.

Grant Application Schedule

The grant is open for application in the October application round. Applications close at 4 pm Finnish time (EET) on the last day of the application period.

Eligible Applicants

The grant is intended for working groups consisting of more than one researcher. A registered legal entity, such as a university, a research institute or an incorporation, may not apply. All scientific work in the project will be remunerated as working grants, not as salaries.

Grant Purpose

The Additional Million-euro Grant will be awarded to no more than five research projects. The grant can be applied for work, project-related expenses, or both together.

The applications may focus on different aspects of the theme, for example, on materials encountered in everyday life, minerals in the mining industry, semiconductor design in nanotechnology, or space technology and remote sounding.

All research projects must explain the environmental benefits of their research.

How to Apply

The application is submitted to the Online Application Service during the October application period. This special target grant can be selected in the Grant Type menu on the Application page of the application form.

The required attachments for the application are listed in the General Guidelines. The research plan to be attached to the application must be submitted either in Finnish or English, but the summary included in the application form must be written in Finnish. When the grant is applied for expenses, the budget must be submitted as a separate attachment according to the guidelines.
